The Miami Heat are always talking about “Heat culture” and the underdog spirit of the team.

As admirable as that is, NBA analyst Jason Timpf thinks the team needs more than its culture now.

Speaking on “Hoops Tonight,” via The Volume, Timpf stated that the Heat have to make moves this summer to improve the roster.

“The window is now. It has to happen this summer,” Timpf said about the front office making trades to bolster the lineup.

Timpf believes in the team’s culture and the leadership of head coach Erik Spoelstra.

He agrees that the Heat are often a very impressive team that surprises opponents and gets the best of them.

But he also added that this only works when they are facing “fraudulent” opponents.

When they are facing true championship contenders, even with Jimmy Butler and Bad Adebayo, the Heat encounter serious problems.

Timpf thinks that the team’s front office will need to acquire more talent because their time with Butler is running out.

He is getting older, injuries are adding up, and he likely only has a few more seasons before retirement.

If the Heat wish to make another run to the Finals, they need to be proactive and shake things up as soon as possible.

The Heat have taken pride in not making major moves during the summer and they might still feel burned by their attempts to land Damian Lillard last year.

But if they want to rise above the rest of the Eastern Conference, Miami cannot just sit with the roster they have now.

This postseason ended in disappointment so the Heat might be open to the idea of making some alterations this summer.
