What has happened to the Philadelphia Eagles?

This team was on top of the NFC for the first two-thirds of the season, starting the year with a 10-1 record.

However, they have faltered lately, surrendering the No. 1 seed to the San Francisco 49ers after losing four of their last five games.

In a recent segment of his show, Craig Carton called the Eagles “a panic machine right now,” adding, “That boat is taking on water.”

“The #Eagles are nothing but a panic machine right now and that boat is taking on water. They’re actually considering firing Nick Sirianni after this year.”

Carton also indicated that the Eagles are “considering firing Nick Sirianni right now.”

While reports of firing Sirianni haven’t been widely discussed in the public eye, Carton seems convinced he could be out the door during the offseason.

It doesn’t matter how well a coach is received; in the NFL, winning is paramount.

If a coach isn’t winning, his chances of sticking around are slim, mainly if the franchise is used to being successful.

Sirianni has been an emotional leader for the Eagles since he walked in the door.

His team has a lot of respect for him, and they have played hard under Sirianni over the past few years.

Even though this is the case, it hasn’t translated into much winning lately for the Eagles.

It will be interesting to see if they can right the ship in the playoffs, especially given their 1-4 record over their past five games.

If the Eagles are in panic mode, as Carton suggests, it could spell an early playoff exit.

This is a less-than-favorable situation for a team that secured the No. 1 seed in the 2022 postseason.
