The New England Patriots will be under a lot of scrutiny this season.
Third-year pro Mac Jones showed signs of regression last season, and while he wasn’t put in a position to succeed by his coaching staff, his antics were worrisome.
But now that he’s in a more favorable spot with Bill O’Brien calling the shots, some believe he’s ready to take a major leap forward.
With that in mind, NFL analysts Michael Holley and Tom Curran debated whether he could take the same leap as Jalen Hurts, and they had some mixed opinions (via NBC Sports Boston).

Curran made it seem like Jones could fare as well as Hurts did last season if he played for the Eagles, stating that the team is stacked and that they know how to play offense.
He also thinks that Jones could lead the Eagles to 13 wins in a season if he were to swap places with Hurts.
Holley, on the other hand, believes that Jones would, in fact, do well in Philly, but he just doesn’t see him being an MVP candidate like Hurts was last season.
Some analysts expect some regression and believe that Hurts isn’t going to be as good as he was last season, while others predict another breakout season by the Oklahoma Sooner.
As for Jones, this might be his final shot to prove his worth for the Patriots, especially considering they don’t seem to have any more margin for error, with Robert Kraft’s patience running out.
