The San Francisco 49ers have relied on Brock Purdy all year long, and it doesn’t seem like they have any intention to pursue someone else in the offseason.
Purdy is tailor-made for Kyle Shanahan’s offensive system, and he’s executed perfectly for the most part, regardless of the criticism.
On top of that, he just closed out the Green Bay Packers with an outstanding drive to secure a spot in the NFC Championship Game.
He was so impressive in that drive that NFL analyst Craig Carton even went on to compare him to the legendary Joe Montana.
“Brock Purdy is Joe Montana. When the game counted and it was on the line, he said let’s go and led them to the game-winning touchdown,” Carton said.

Talking on The Carton Show, Carton reminisced of that legendary ‘the catch’ game by Montana, reminding everyone that he actually threw three picks in that game as well.
Carton stated that no one seems to remember the three interceptions because Joe Cool stepped up big time when it mattered the most and took care of business.
He believes Purdy is that same kind of guy, stating that he was absolutely terrible for most of the game vs. the Packers, yet he stepped up when his team needed him and did what he had to do.
Purdy has been mostly great for the Niners, with a few exceptions.
Then again, from that, to compare him with one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time could be a bit of a stretch.
The Niners are just two wins away from putting an end to their Super Bowl drought, and it’ll be interesting to see how Purdy deals with that kind of pressure.
