As of right now, the consensus around the NFL is that four quarterbacks will be taken in the first round of the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft.
The top prospects at the quarterback position are C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson and Will Levis, with no set order in terms of which player will be taken first.
However, it does appear that Stroud and Young are the top two prospects at this moment, as either player could go No. 1 overall to the Carolina Panthers.
ESPN’s Matt Miller believes the best comparison for the incoming rookie C.J. Stroud is veteran quarterback Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys.

Although Prescott’s career hasn’t gone as planned as of yet, with the veteran still looking to make a deep run in the NFL playoffs with the Cowboys, he’s still considered to be among the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
That said, it’s a flattering comparison for Stroud as the Ohio State product prepares to make the jump to the next level as one of the most promising quarterbacks in the draft.
The real question moving forward is where Stroud will land, as he’s in contention for the top pick or may fall to No. 2 with the Houston Texans or lower.
There are plenty of quarterback-needy teams in the top half of the first round, and it would be shocking, to say the least, if he drops below No. 7 overall where the Las Vegas Raiders sit and wait to bring in a rookie for Jimmy Garoppolo to groom.
