It’s been 29 years since the San Francisco 49ers last won a Super Bowl, and they’ve gotten back to that stage multiple times ever since.
They continue to be one of the greatest franchises in NFL history, and they come back stronger and more stacked year in and year out.
Likewise, it’s been 16 years since the Boston Celtics last won an NBA championship, and they’ve also gotten back to the NBA Finals multiple times ever since.
They also have the most stacked team in the league, and have been the odds-on favorites to win the whole thing since before the start of the preseason.
That’s why sports analyst Craig Carton compared both teams.
In the latest edition of “The Carton Show,” he claimed that the Celtics were pretty much obliged to win the Larry O’Brien trophy this season, as they’re just so favored over the Indiana Pacers right now.

The Celtics are 10-point favorites ahead of Tuesday night’s Game 1, and that’s despite the fact that the Pacers have had the best offense in the playoffs thus far.
It’s crazy to think that the Celtics have only had two championships since 1986, yet they’re still the winningest team in the Association.
That speaks volumes about the level of competition during their 11-championship run, and it’s not so easy to dominate when the rest of the league also employs pros.
Whatever the case, both the Celtics and Niners need to get the monkey off their backs.
Whether that’ll happen soon remains to be seen.
