This upcoming NFL Draft is loaded with top-level talent at the wide receiver position, with many mocks having three receivers projected to go in the top 10 picks.

This is the time of year when comparisons are being thrown out left and right as teams try to navigate the draft’s minefield and avoid those potential busts at all costs.

If you ask Brian Baldinger of NFL Network, Washington’s Rome Odunze is his favorite receiver prospect, saying “he’s as close to Ja’Marr Chase we’ve seen coming out.”

“I think I like Rome (Odunze) best,” says @BaldyNFL. “He’s as close to Jamar Chase we’ve seen coming out.”

You can’t ask for a more ringing endorsement, as Chase has immediately established himself as one of the league’s elite receivers after posting a trio of 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career with 29 touchdowns.

Odunze is coming off a monster 92-catch/1,640-yard/13-TD season at Washington and posted a 4.45 40-yard dash with a 39-inch vertical leap at the NFL Combine.

It’s not the first time fans have heard this comparison for Odunze, who has shown plenty of the same skills that Chase has flashed in his young career.

Odunze is slightly bigger at 6’3, 215 pounds, but shows a similar explosive route tree and proved to be a trustworthy 1-on-1 option for Michael Penix Jr. at Washington, just like Joe Burrow consistently trusts Chase to make contested catches when no other options are open.

Baldinger raised some eyebrows by going against the grain and saying “I think I like Rome best,” as nearly every mock over the past year has projected Ohio State standout Marvin Harrison Jr. as the first receiver off the board.
