The Miami Heat are in a favorable position to land superstar point guard Damian Lillard this offseason.

He has requested a trade after spending his first 10 years in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Miami has been reported as his preferred destination this summer.

According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, via NBA Central, Lillard wants to compete alongside Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo while also growing inside the ‘Heat Culture’ system with Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra.

The Heat have earned a great reputation around the league, and it makes total sense that Lillard wants to play with them.

Lillard could be incredibly impactful with the Heat and be the final piece in their quest for another NBA championship.

Sharing touches with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo would give the team a formidable squad to compete for that elusive championship.

This situation is still developing, as the Heat and Blazers are trying to find a third team to accelerate the trade.

Lillard considers this situation ‘Heat or bust’ according to Senior NBA Writer Sam Amick.

After so many years in Portland, Lillard appears finally ready to leave the Blazers, but that won’t come easily or fast as the Blazers will look to maximize their trade return.
