The Los Angeles Rams are coming off of a tough game, to say the least.
Some pundits believed they had a prime chance to get back on track and take down the struggling Green Bay Packers, but they had one of the worst offensive outings in recent NFL history.
With no Matthew Stafford, Sean McVay relied on Brett Rypien, who was only able to complete 13 of 28 passes for 130 yards and one interception en route to an embarrassing 20-3 loss.
That’s why it wasn’t much of a surprise to see that they made a big splash by signing Carson Wentz.
According to NFL insider Peter Schrager (via NFL on FOX Podcast), it’s not like Wentz was auditioning for teams or anything, but the Rams feel comfortable riding with him if Stafford needs to miss additional time.

Schrager believes that Rypien was the fall guy after that overall poor outing but added that the Rams need someone who can give the offense some confidence if they had to turn to him.
Prior to his signing, Wentz’s future in the league was uncertain, to say the least.
The former Philadelphia Eagles star was never able to get back to his pre-injury level, often forcing things and making some questionable mistakes.
Even so, it’s safe to say that the Rams could do a lot worse than Wentz as their backup quarterback.
