The Chicago Bears were the worst team in the NFL last season, or at least had the worst record.

But they put that No. 1 pick to good use, flipping it for multiple assets and making the most of their cap space to solve some of their major issues from last season.

Moreover, the fact that they agreed to trade that pick with Bryce Young being available speaks volumes of the team’s confidence in Justin Fields as their franchise quarterback.

That’s why ESPN’s Mike Greenberg believes it’s now or never for the Ohio State product, as the team has given him everything he needs and has made a major investment in him, not to mention the fact that they could’ve had a potential star like Young.

“I believe in Justin Fields. … But if he doesn’t get it done this year then there are no excuses. Then it is the right thing for [the Bears] to consider moving on.”

Greenberg said on “Get Up” that he believes the Bears should consider moving on from him if he fails to improve this season, and he might not be wrong at all.

Most analysts expect big things from Fields now that the Bears have significantly revamped their terrible offensive line, and adding a full season of Chase Claypool and the addition of DJ Moore should also do a lot to help.

Fields was an elite prospect since his days in high school and proved that he was capable of putting up huge numbers in college.

He took a major leap forward last season and convinced the Bears that he was the right guy for the job.

But that was only the first step, and he’ll need to do better in 2023.
