The Portland Trail Blazers are in no rush to get a deal for Damian Lillard done.

The superstar guard is one of the best scorers in the league, and multiple teams would’ve rushed to make an offer for him if he hadn’t publically announced his desire to play for the Miami Heat.

The Blazers have been unmoved by the Heat’s offers for Lillard, and there hasn’t been any traction or updates about the situation.

Nonetheless, despite all that, NBA analyst Marc J. Spears doesn’t expect Lillard to wreak havoc or create chaos inside the locker room (via Dru_Star).

“I don’t expect Dame to burn things down, do a Harden or nothing like that. I expect him to continue to be professional. Certainly I know the frustration’s gotta be boiling over. There’s no new news on the trade. It’s still moving slow w/ a month to go before camp” – @MarcJSpears pic.twitter.com/QzbQOYsvEM

In his latest appearance on ESPN’s NBA Today, Spears claimed that he fully expects Lillard to continue being a professional and show up to work, although his frustration will obviously continue to build up.

Lillard has always been a gentleman and has treated the Blazers with the utmost respect.

He even refused to talk about them in his latest interview, knowing that things could’ve been taken out of context.

At this point, it seems highly unlikely that the Blazers will get a better offer for Lillard or even another offer at all.

Miami’s offer is fair and could turn out to be very good for Portland in the long run.

They’d get young players with high potential and multiple first-round picks for an aging player making dozens of millions.

The Blazers ought to do right by their star player, and their reluctance to send him to Miami seems personal at this point.
