The Dallas Cowboys and RB Tony Pollard failed to reach an agreement on a new deal for next season.
That’s a common trend among running backs nowadays, even those who are expected to lead their team in touches.
Needless to say, that means Pollard will have a lot to prove next season and a huge chip on his shoulder as well, and that could be a bit of a concern, considering he’s coming off an injury.
However, PFF analyst Sam Monson recently reported that he’s expected to be fully healthy and suffer no setbacks when he hits the field next season.

Pollard ran away with the Cowboys’ starting RB job.
He was much more efficient than Ezekiel Elliott over the past couple of years, which is one of the many reasons why they decided to move on from the Ohio State Buckeye.
But running backs have become somewhat expendable assets for teams nowadays.
The franchise tag for RBs was the only one in which value actually dropped as opposed to rise, and that’s going to be an issue the league will have to address sooner rather than later.
Pollard wanted to get a lucrative deal, but he didn’t threaten to hold out or anything, so he’ll be forced to play under the franchise tag for at least one season.
Whether he’ll be good enough to be granted another long-term deal with the organization remains to be seen, but judging by this year’s market, it just seems unlikely.
