Fans of the Dallas Cowboys are always loud and proud, but that is especially true heading into the 2023 NFL season.
The team has made a couple of new additions that have made it, at least in the eyes of its fans, a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
However, Craig Carton had some harsh words for those fans, as he told them that this season won’t end with a world championship for them.
“Dallas Cowboy fans: you know how this season’s gonna end — you’re not gonna have a ring on your finger. That’s keeping it real.”

With wide receiver Brandin Cooks arriving to team up with Pro Bowler CeeDee Lamb, and cornerback Stephon Gilmore pairing up with Trevon Diggs, Dallas has about as talented a roster as one will find in the league.
They have won 12 games in both of the last two seasons, but both of those campaigns ended with early playoff defeats to their arch-rivals, the San Francisco 49ers.
On paper, it seems the Cowboys have everything they need to win their first Super Bowl since the 1995 season.
But the big question surrounding the team is quarterback Dak Prescott.
He is certainly a good signal-caller, but he consistently plays beneath expectations in big games and in the playoffs, and that simply will not get it done for such a storied franchise, especially one that has brazenly embraced their nickname of “America’s Team.”
There is speculation that if Prescott comes up short again, he could end up losing his job sometime in the future to new acquisition Trey Lance, an incoming third-year QB who is thought to have plenty of potential.
The Cowboys acquired Lance just over a week ago for a fourth-round draft pick from, of all teams, the 49ers.
