Coming into Sunday’s game against the lowly Charlotte Hornets, the Cleveland Cavaliers had an opportunity to secure the No. 2 or No. 3 seed with a win.

Of course, the Cavaliers couldn’t even handle that as they let a team that rested all of its best players in the regular-season finale beat them by 10, which is not a great sign, with the start of the NBA playoffs being right around the corner.

The Cavaliers had a lot of incentive to win this game as they could’ve played a lesser team in the first round while also having home-court advantage in the second round and not having to face arguably the best team in the conference until the Eastern Conference Finals.

Mike Zavagno of TopProp Fantasy believes that kind of carelessness is “indefensible.”

“The Cavs could have played Indiana R1, had home court in R2 and avoided Boston until the ECF. Instead, they intentionally lost to Charlotte at home. Completely indefensible,” he tweeted.

As if it wasn’t bad enough that the Cavaliers haven’t been playing good basketball as of late, the team just made the road to the NBA Finals that much tougher, which is pretty perplexing as to why they would do that.

Now, the Cavaliers will play a motivated Orlando Magic squad that prides itself on the defensive end of the basketball floor, which could prove to be a disaster for Cleveland in the same way it was against the New York Knicks in the playoffs last season.

Although anything can happen in the postseason, and sometimes teams can flip a switch, Cleveland definitely has the odds against them in terms of turning it on when the playoffs get underway.
