The San Francisco 49ers are completely sold on their starting quarterback, and the public’s opinion on that subject won’t change their stance on that.
Brock Purdy has, by all means, earned the starting job, and as such, he’s going to get paid according to the market value.
We’ve seen the next guy always get more than the previous player, even if he’s not necessarily a better option.
That means that Purdy might be in line for a record-breaking deal, and with all the criticism and doubt about him, that may unleash mayhem on social media and sports shows.
That’s why Evan Cohen believes his next contract will be the most debated in NFL history.
Talking on ESPN Radio’s UNSPORTSMANLIKE, Cohen predicted how insane will people go when debating Purdy’s next deal and whether he should make X sum of money or not.

Even if he takes a pay cut, he thinks some people will still think he’s overpaid, predicting that his situation will be like Tua Tagovialoa’s, only ten times worse.
The Purdy criticism has been mostly out of line, as he’s been able to do what Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo couldn’t, even though they all had the same elite supporting cast, more or less.
All he’s done is win games, and you have to pay a prime price for a franchise-caliber quarterback in today’s market.
Also, even if he ends up making top-dollar, it will be just a matter of time before his deal becomes a bargain again.
