The Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott have failed to reach an agreement over a contract extension.

Prescott is now fully expected to play the season without a new deal, and he could become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

However, should that be the case, Damien Woody believes he wouldn’t return to Arlington if he has to wait until the offseason to pick up contract talks.

Talking on ESPN’s Get Up, Woody stated that Prescott, just like all players, doesn’t want contract talks to be dragged all the way into the season, as they don’t want to focus on that kind of stuff midway through the campaign.

He thinks he’s going to test the market and go somewhere else, as he knows he’s not out there to help the Cowboys; he’s doing his job.

The Cowboys don’t seem to be fully committed to Prescott.

He was projected to make $60 million a season, and while that’s the price a team will have to pay to get a franchise-caliber quarterback, he has fallen short of the goals multiple times in the past.

As of now, Prescott is the best — and only — option they have for their offense, but the Cowboys don’t seem to have a clear plan about the future of the roster.

Some believe they’re setting the team up for failure to avoid paying Prescott next season.
