Ahead of the NBA Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics, the matchup is being analyzed to death, with every media member and pundit chiming in on who they believe will be the team to come out on top and lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
The Celtics are no strangers to the Finals, with Jayson Tatum and his teammates playing with a title on the line two years ago, where they fell to superstar Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
Although it was Tatum’s first Finals appearance, the storied franchise has been there many times, with Boston sporting 17 NBA titles to its credit, which is tied for an NBA record with the arch-rival Los Angeles Lakers.
With the chance to retake the lead in the titles department, topping the Lakers, Tatum and his squad will have tremendous pressure on them to succeed and be the first team to four wins against what has turned out to be a resilient Mavericks squad led by superstar Luka Doncic.
Even though Tatum is widely considered to be one of the best players in the league today, ESPN’s Zach Lowe doesn’t believe that the Celtics superstar is a top-five player in the NBA, per “Get Up” (via NBACentral).

Unfortunately for Tatum, all the pressure in this series will be on his shoulders and on his team, with Boston expected to win while the Mavericks have embraced the underdog label and have nothing to lose moving forward.
It’ll be interesting to see if Tatum can step up in this series and help lead Boston to another title, which would be a massive boost for his legacy with the Celtics.
