For many years, the New York Knicks and their fans have been yearning for a superstar.
They haven’t had a true franchise player since the days of Patrick Ewing in the 1990s, and although they enjoyed several years of Carmelo Anthony, he couldn’t quite rise to that level of production for the once-proud franchise.
This past season, the Knicks made considerable progress, finishing fifth in the Eastern Conference and winning their first playoff series in 10 years behind the addition of Jalen Brunson.
Writer and Boston Celtics homer Bill Simmons feels the Knicks will finally land a superstar a year from now, and he guaranteed they will get either Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, or Donovan Mitchell, via KnicksMuse and NBACentral.

“They’ll get one of those three guys, I guarantee. Giannis, Embiid, or Mitchell will be on that team a year from now.”

With James Harden at odds with Philadelphia 76ers management after they failed to trade him this offseason, there have been rumors that Embiid, the reigning regular-season MVP, may want out soon.
He is coming off a career-best season in which he averaged 33.1 points and 10.2 rebounds a game while shooting 54.8 percent from the field, yet for the third straight year, the Sixers lost in the second round of the playoffs.
Antetokounmpo recently said he will not sign a contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks if he isn’t confident they will be a championship-caliber team moving forward.
He can become a free agent in the summer of 2025 thanks to an opt-out clause in his contract.
Mitchell, who is originally from suburban New York City, was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers last summer and transformed them into a legitimate playoff team.
The Cavs lost to the Knicks in the first round of the playoffs, and he can also opt out of his current deal and become a free agent in 2025.
