The NBA is constantly changing.

Old, familiar faces retire, leaving fans to cling to young talent, hoping they can provide a similar output.

Two of the biggest young stars, Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren, recently faced off in a preseason game.

While they played limited minutes, it was clear to fans that this is a matchup that will likely produce great games for the foreseeable future.

After the game, NBA analyst Kevin O’Connor called them “Evolutionary Kevin Garnett vs. evolutionary Kevin Garnett.”

“This isn’t even like the new Tim Duncan vs. Kevin Garnett. This is like evolutionary Kevin Garnett vs. evolutionary Kevin Garnett.”

Wembanyama and Holmgren were highly-touted players coming into the NBA.

Their combination of elite athleticism and shooting abilities at their respective heights is something the NBA has never seen before.

If both athletes can come close in on-court performances to the hype that surrounds them, NBA fans are in for a real treat.

Wembanyama is slated to help turn the San Antonio Spurs organization around in a Tim Duncan-like way.

He has brought this fanbase extreme hope, something they haven’t experienced for several years.

The Spurs haven’t made the playoffs in four years, failing to win more than 40 games during this stretch

After missing the entire 2022-2023 season due to injury, Holmgren is looking to provide a similar effect to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Once Russell Westbrook left, this team has not been the same.

They face a three-year playoff drought as well, desperately seeking an organizational spark plug.

Will Holmgren and Wembanyama live up to the hype, turning around their respective teams en route to playoff berths this year?
