Joe Flacco was one of the best stories of the 2023 NFL season after he led the Cleveland Browns to the playoffs after just five games with the team.
He immediately played better than Cleveland’s previous three starting quarterbacks and looked just as good as when he was in his prime with the Baltimore Ravens.
Flacco flopped in the wild card game, though, as the Browns lost to the Houston Texans thanks to two pick-sixes from Flacco in the second half.
The veteran quarterback’s future is now the biggest question heading into the offseason, as Flacco will likely be replaced by incumbent starter Deshaun Watson in 2024.
But The Athletic’s Ted Nguyen had an interesting destination for Flacco’s next team though: The Pittsburgh Steelers.

This would be incredible for a number of reasons, least of which being that Flacco spent most of his career playing the Steelers twice a year in the AFC North.
But it would also make a lot of sense considering the Steelers’ inability to find a quarterback solution after Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement.
Kenny Pickett has been injured or ineffective in his two years, Mitchell Trubisky hasn’t played well and Mason Rudolph is a major unknown after three bad seasons followed by one good stretch of games.
Flacco is not a clean fix, as he just turned 39, but his veteran experience would be refreshing for the Steelers’ youthful skill position players.
He’s proven to be a good passer, too, when given a quality offensive line and good offensive talent around him.
But it remains to be seen if he’ll continue his NFL career or if the Steelers would even want to sign their former foe.
