The Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers starred in the most exciting game of Week 1, and it wasn’t even close.

It was the ultimate shootout, with both teams going back and forth, and the Dolphins eventually secured a big win behind Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill.

Tua threw for 466 yards and three touchdowns, while Hill grabbed 11 of 15 targets for 215 yards and two scores.

However, as spectacular as their passing game was, former NFL star Jason McCourty has plenty of concerns on the other side of the ball.

In his latest appearance on Good Morning Football, McCourty pointed out the fact that there was a lot of hype about this defense because of the new scheme and Vic Fangio taking over as Defensive Coordinator, yet there were no signs of improvement.

The Dolphins allowed 433 total yards, 234 of those on the ground.

They did well against the pass and should only get better once they get Jalen Ramsey back on the field, but those numbers should still be a major concern.

There’s no denying that the Dolphins can put up points with the best of them, even with a subpar running game.

But not many teams that allow 400+ yards and 30+ points per game can find success in the postseason, regardless of how well their quarterback is playing.

Tua is looking like the real deal and he’s getting better with every start, but his defense and his offensive line need to give him a helping hand if the Dolphins want to come out on top of the AFC East.
