When Trey Lance was traded to the Dallas Cowboys, it sparked a flurry of emotion across the league.

Some believed this was an egregious mistake by the San Francisco 49ers, believing they moved on from him too quickly.

Others were under the impression that this was the correct call, already deciding Lance was a “bust.”

In a recent conversation on the Dan Patrick Show, Ross Tucker outlined his feelings about this situation.

“It’s hard to say he’s a bust when he’s barely even played,” Tucker said.

“Give the kid a year. When does a guy get drafted that high and he doesn’t even get a year… but I would love to see somebody, somewhere give the kid a year to play and see what he can do. It’s hard to say he’s a bust when he’s barely even played.”

He believes an NFL team should “give the kid a year to play and see what he can do,” wanting to see Lance on the field.

Lance was a polarizing prospect heading into the NFL, largely due to a lack of career snaps.

Playing at a small Division 1 school wasn’t in Lance’s favor, as many believed this was a detriment to his overall ceiling.

Regardless of how he was profiled, none of that matters now that he’s in the league, on his second team in three years.

There’s no telling what he’ll be able to accomplish in the league, especially if he’s sitting behind Dak Prescott.

Tucker’s comments are greatly in favor of Lance, who he thinks should get another chance as a full-time starter.

Lance has only started four games in the NFL, largely due to the injury he suffered at the beginning of the 2022 season.

When his career is over, will Lance’s story be one of redemption or one of a first-round bust who couldn’t break through?
