The National Football League has come a long way over the past couple of years.

We no longer see prototypical quarterbacks, at least not as often as we used to.

All prospects are judged by their mobility and ability to roll out of the pocket and do some damage with their feet, with just a few exceptions.

The dual-threat quarterback has become the blueprint for a modern-day gunslinger.

That’s clearly not a coincidence or just for Fantasy Football purposes.

As pointed out by NFL analyst and metrics enthusiast Warren Sharp, quarterback scrambles are the most efficient offensive play in the league right now.

In his recent appearance on the Ross Tucker podcast, Sharp explained that quarterback scrambles, especially those in which the quarterback was supposed to throw a pass, are averaging a whopping 8.5 yards per game, which is significantly more than average pass play.

He also argues that those kinds of play have a higher ceiling than usual plays.

Anthony Richardson, Jayden Daniels, and even Drake Maye are just a handful of the young quarterbacks entering the league in the past couple of years who can make plays with their legs as much as with their feet.

We also have Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen as some stars of the game who have made a living out of this.

And with this being a copycat league, just like all major sports, don’t be shocked if that becomes even more of a trend as the years go by.
