There’s a surplus of talent in today’s National Football League.
You have to be amongst the elite to get a prominent role in today’s game, let alone a big contract.
That’s why not all players are able to live up to the expectations, and finding consistency is even tougher than actually making it to the league.
With that in mind, ESPN’s Mike Greenberg put together his list of the top five players that will have a bounce-back year in 2023.

At No. 5, he chose Calvin Ridley, who’ll have his first season with the Jacksonville Jaguars after serving a one-year suspension for gambling, and who could instantly become Trevor Lawrence’s primary weapon in the passing game.
He later chose Mac Jones, who’s coming off a very disappointing season with the New England Patriots, and who knows that his job could be in jeopardy if he doesn’t straighten the ship soon.
At No. 3, he chose Pittsburgh Steelers star T.J. Watt, who was as dominant as usual when he was on the field but was forced to miss a big portion of the season with an injury.
Russell Wilson got the nod at No. 2, which is no surprise, as he was — by far — the most disappointing player in the league last season after signing that huge contract extension as soon as he was traded to the Denver Broncos.
Last but not least, Greenberg chose star WR Odell Beckham Jr., who got a major payday with the Baltimore Ravens and will now look to prove that he can stay healthy and be as good as he was in his heyday.
