It once seemed like Giannis Antetokounmpo would spend his entire career with the Milwaukee Bucks, especially after they won the NBA championship in 2021.
But now, after a comment he made in a New York Times article, it looks like his days in Wisconsin could be numbered.
Antetokounmpo, whose current contract ends in 2026 and can opt out of it in 2025, said he would not sign an extension unless he feels the Bucks will still be a championship-caliber team in the next few years.
Chris Broussard recently said on “First Things First” that if he leaves, he should join Stephen Curry on the Golden State Warriors.
Giannis x Steph? “There’s no place I’d rather see Giannis playing than with Steph Curry.”

Even though they were unceremoniously dumped in the first round of the 2023 playoffs, the Bucks still have a team that can walk away with the Larry O’Brien Trophy this coming season.
The problem is that several of their key players, including Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, and Brook Lopez, are in their early 30s and may not have more than a couple of good years left in the tank.
That could necessitate the Greek Freak leaving in order to add more championships to his resume.
Even at age 35, Curry is seemingly ageless and still at the top of his game, but like the Bucks, the Warriors as a whole are getting up there in age and will soon be in need of replacement parts.
Getting Antetokounmpo in a couple of years would be like installing a new engine and transmission in an aging car, and he could single-handedly extend Curry’s career by a couple more years.
