Being an NBA superstar means dealing with an inherent amount of pressure, since it means being the face of a franchise and carrying the burden of being the biggest factor in its hopes and ultimate success or failure.

When a superstar has enough talent around him to win a world championship, that pressure greatly increases, especially if he hasn’t won it all yet.

That’s the situation Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers finds himself in after his team landed Paul George in free agency, and Chris Broussard said on Fox Sports 1’s “First Things First” that Embiid is under more pressure than anyone else in the league.

“Joel Embiid is under the most pressure of any player in the league. … Everybody is getting their championship, Joel. When are you getting yours?”

Embiid is now an established superstar, and he has a regular season MVP and two scoring titles under his belt.

If it weren’t for his meniscus injury this past season, he could very well have two MVPs and three scoring titles to his name right now.

But for all his dominance, there is something big missing from his resume.

Embiid’s playoff numbers, both in terms of scoring average and shooting efficiency, are significantly lower than his regular season numbers, and he has never made it past the second round of the playoffs.

With George and Tyrese Maxey on his side, he will have no more excuses in terms of playoff success if the Sixers stay relatively healthy this coming season.

However, that is a big if, given Embiid’s long history of injuries, particularly knee injuries, and George’s own inability to avoid injuries over the years.
