The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing a bit of a dilemma right now.

On the one hand, they have a proven commodity in Russell Wilson, who they actually promised a starting job to.

On the other hand, they have a younger, more dynamic, more athletic, and a higher-upside player in Justin Fields.

However, Fields has yet to prove himself in the league.

Even so, former NFL player Damien Woody believes this should be an easy decision for Mike Tomlin.

Talking on ESPN’s Get Up, he made a case for Fields to get the nod over Wilson.

He believes that Fields is the clear choice here, as he’s a perennial dual-threat who could take this offense to a whole new level.

Woody thinks they could legitimately go toe-to-toe with the Baltimore Ravens and deploy Fields in a similar way to them and Lamar Jackson.

Truth be told, that makes perfect sense.

Fields is a gifted athlete and one of the best scramblers in the game.

He has to make strides as a passer, but his quick burst, acceleration, and lateral quickness could come in handy in Arthur Smith’s offense.

Smith made Ryan Tannehill look like an NFL-caliber quarterback for years, and Fields is significantly more talented and athletic.

The Steelers haven’t won a playoff game in quite a while, and patience is starting to run out.

And even if Wilson plays well, they might be better off with a player who’s significantly younger and could be their starter for years to come.
