The NFL season is slated to begin in less than a month, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have yet to name a starting quarterback for Week 1.

They did add Justin Fields and Russell Wilson in the offseason, but many people expected Wilson to be their starter for most if not all of the 2024 season.

After all, Wilson has more career experience, and while his time with the Denver Broncos was suboptimal, he has played at an MVP level at times throughout his career.

With the Steelers still reeling from their failed Kenny Pickett, a player like Wilson, at least on paper, could be what they’re looking for.

Those were the initial attitudes, but there has been a mindset shift over the past few weeks.

Fields has continued to get better in training camp, which has opened up a conversation for him to see increased playing time when the season starts.

Wilson has been suffering from an injury, which has helped Fields get more and more time with the No. 1s in this offense.

After watching this unfold, Adam Schein is ready to name a starting QB in this offense, as he recently mentioned on “Mad Dog Sports Radio.”

“I think Arthur Smith is the perfect offensive mind for Justin Fields,” Schein said, adding, “They need to start Justin Fields. This Russell Wilson injury should be the best thing that ever happened.”

Schein believes that Fields didn’t get a fair shake with the Chicago Bears, which, in his mind, shouldn’t be the case with the Steelers.

They have a great coaching staff, and if given an opportunity, Schein is all aboard the Fields train moving forward.
