The Denver Broncos were one of the worst teams in the league through the first month of the season.
They even allowed the second-most points in a single game when the Miami Dolphins put up 70 points on them, and it seemed like there was no way they were going to make the playoffs.
Fast forward to today, and after that 1-5 start to the season, they’re now 4-5 and peaking at the right time.
That’s why NFL analyst Peter Schrager believes they’re for real and that they can still enter the postseason conversation.
In the latest edition of Good Morning Football, Schrager talked about how Sean Payton’s team didn’t back down even after losing to Zach Wilson and the New York Jets at home.
“They were 1-5 and had just lost to the Jets @ home…
Then, they beat GB. Then, they beat KC. And then, they opted NOT to trade everyone at the deadline. And they just went into Buffalo won. And now, the @Broncos are just 1 game out of the Wildcard.” #BroncosCountry

They bounced back to beat the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs.
Then, they opted to keep their star players at the trade deadline despite plenty of interest and offers, and they’re now fresh off beating Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on the road.
The Broncos have some winnable games ahead of them and are one game out of the AFC Wildcard, and you have to give them props for this kind of resiliency.
Payton drew plenty of criticism early in the season and rightfully so, especially after his uncalled-for shots at Nathaniel Hackett.
But even if it took him way more time than expected and it wasn’t pretty at all, it seems like he’s finally figured things out and they could be a team to keep an eye on in the second half of the season.
