After stealing Game 2 on the road, the Cleveland Cavaliers were well-positioned to take the lead in their Eastern Conference semifinals series against the Boston Celtics.
However, Game 3 turned into a blowout quickly as Boston made the appropriate adjustments, particularly on defense to shift the series back in their favor after they won 106-93.
The Cavaliers have been a tough team to figure out during the postseason as they have nights of brilliance like they had in Game 2 followed by head-scratching performances like Game 3.
The only constant on the floor for Cleveland has been Donovan Mitchell who’s risen to the occasion as the team’s undisputed No. 1 option offensively.
Mitchell has been on a tear in the playoffs and he continued his torrid stretch with an impressive 33-point game against the Celtics.
Despite Mitchell’s hot scoring stretch the past couple of weeks, Cleveland’s failed to capitalize on it via Hayden Grove of Cleveland.com
“The Cavaliers are just 3-3 in these games,” Grove reported.

Mitchell has done everything asked of him and more on the court, though it hasn’t amounted to as many wins because the supporting cast has been up and down.
Darius Garland and Evan Mobley have had flashes, but have looked like they’re struggling with the physical nature of the postseason.
Meanwhile, the bench has been unable to meet expectations as they’ve also had trouble generating many good looks.
Mitchell’s been able to prop up what’s been a mediocre Cleveland offense at best, but he’s going to need a lot more help if the Cavaliers hope to pull off the upset against Boston.
