The Toronto Blue Jays have geared up for a postseason run this October.

And one man in particular is hoping to be a part of that potential run.

On Friday, Alek Manoah took the mound for the Jays against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

The right-hander put together perhaps his best performance of the season, pitching 6.2 innings and allowing three runs against the Red Sox.

The Blue Jays won by a final score of 7-3.

On Twitter, Jon Morosi of MLB Network took note of Manoah’s solid performance and illustrated the importance of such a strong start, saying that if the Blue Jays do reach the postseason, Manoah’s performance will be remembered as a reason why.

Manoah has battled through a ton of adversity this season.

He was the Blue Jays Opening Day starter in St. Louis, but ultimately never found his groove and was later sent down to the Florida Complex League.

However, the young right-hander has made his return and is pitching like his old self again.

He struck out five Red Sox batters on Friday and walked just two as he earned his third win of the season for the Blue Jays.

Manoah also lowered his ERA to 5.72.

Toronto owns a record of 61-50 and leads the Seattle Mariners by 2.5 games for the third and final Wild Card spot in the American League.

If the Blue Jays are to reach the postseason, they will certainly need more performances like this from Manoah, who seems to have rediscovered his old form.
