On Friday morning, the Washington Wizards announced a late summer signing.

They have given forward Taj Gibson a one-year, $3.2 million deal to keep him around another year.

While that is good news for Gibson, it is bad news for two other players on the roster.

As reported by John Hollinger, the Wizards now have 17 contracts and will have to cut or trade two players.

It is assumed that Danilo Gallinari will be one of the players affected by this but it’s not obvious who the other will be.

Gallinari was sent to the Wizards during the summer when the Boston Celtics acquired Kristaps Porzingis.

It has always been assumed that the Wizards would part ways with Gallinari as soon as they could.

The player didn’t participate at all during 2022-23 due to an injury and the Wizards never had any plan to actually put him on the roster.

But who else will pack their bags?

There have been rumblings of other teams looking to sign Landry Shamet or Delon Wright so either of those two could be waived or traded.

Shamet came to the Wizards in the wild Chris Paul trade and Wright has been with the team for a season.

Shamet averaged 8.7 points and 2.3 assists last season while Wright created 7.4 points and 3.9 assists.

This is all a sign that Washington is just about finished with their offseason moves.

That means that fans are getting a good look at the team they will be rooting for in the new year.

Is this a team that can finally find postseason success again?
