The Miami Heat continue to try to trade for Damian Lillard, but it doesn’t seem like the Portland Trail Blazers have any sort of interest in sending him to South Beach.

According to multiple reports, G.M. Joe Cronin has shut down multiple trade offers coming from the Heat, and there has been no traction or communication in the past couple of weeks.

The trade market for Lillard has been pretty much non-existent, as he and his camp made it known that he doesn’t want to play for any other team that’s not the Heat.

However, Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated believes that the situation could change sometime in the foreseeable future (via Dru_Star).

“I was talking to a GM who believes that in the next month, 2 months, maybe 3 months, you’ll see someone else emerge on the trade market that takes an interest in acquiring Dame. At least gives Portland someone to play against Miami in this situation”@SIChrisMannix of @NBCSBoston pic.twitter.com/MKgTZgVJsZ

Mannix reportedly talked to an unnamed GM who believes that at least one other team could emerge as a potential suitor for Lillard, thus giving the Heat some legit competition for his services.

Some around the league believe that a trade to the Heat is imminent, and it’s a matter of when it’ll happen, nor if it’ll happen.

Player empowerment has made most fans think that Lillard will eventually get things to go his way, but the NBA has been keeping an eye on this situation to try and prevent a dangerous precedent.

Lillard has earned every right to leave the Blazers, but he doesn’t have a no-trade clause, so the team has the final say on where he’s headed to.

One thing’s clear, though: Lillard isn’t likely to suit up for the Portland Trail Blazers ever again.
