Could this be the last rodeo for the Dallas Cowboys as they’re presently constituted?

Arguably their three biggest stars — pass rusher Micah Parsons, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott — are all due for contract extensions, and there is reason to believe that not all three of them will receive extensions from the Cowboys.

But Parsons is confident Lamb will be in uniform for Week 1, and David Helman said on Fox Sports 1’s “Speak” that he shares that same optimism.

The Cowboys cannot afford to lose any of those three stars, but one also has to wonder how they can afford to keep all three of them.

Lamb has become one of the NFL’s very best wide receivers, and Cowboys fans will undoubtedly try to argue that he is the best one in the world right now after he ranked second in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns while leading the league in receptions last year.

His value could be considered even higher when one considers the fact that he’s just 25 years of age and entering his fifth pro season.

But even if Dallas figures out how to pay the three aforementioned stars, they have other issues to sort out.

Despite their star power, they have some real roster holes, including the running back spot and a true WR2 behind Lamb.

With the type of money they would have to pay Parsons, Lamb and Prescott, it would be very difficult for them to patch those holes while staying under the salary cap.
