Despite being a powerhouse for most of the past 20 years, things haven’t been so great for the New England Patriots lately.

Since Tom Brady’s departure, the Patriots have only made the playoffs once, struggling to compete in the other two seasons.

This included 2023, as they finished the year with a 4-13 record, one of the worst in the league.

Despite the Patriots drafting Drake Maye, a quarterback that many fans and analysts are excited about, the general public, including oddsmakers, believe the Patriots will win either four or five games this year.

However, not everyone thinks this way.

Aaron Schatz, an analyst for FTN Fantasy, recently sat down with Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald, making his case for the Patriots to be a seven-win team.

Per Schatz via the Pats Interference podcast, “What we do know about defense, suggests that the Patriots will have one of the top defenses in the league. A big reason for that is that they had a very good defense last year, and they’re getting back their best pass-rusher, and two of their three best cornerbacks.”

Vegas oddsmakers project the #Patriots will win 4-5 games. But are they wrong?@ASchatzNFL explains why the Pats most likely go 7-10 (!!!) in 2024.

In his eyes, the Patriots might not have a top offense in 2024, but with an improving defense, they could be much better than people give them credit for.

Plus, this is the Patriots’ first time without Bill Belichick at the helm for more than two decades, which could help change their schemes on both sides of the ball.

Opposing teams might not see the Patriots coming, which might yield some surprising results.
