The Denver Nuggets confidently entered the 2023-2024 NBA season after winning their first NBA Finals in team history.

Everything seemed to be clicking for this team heading into the year, and they played well during the regular season.

Despite looking strong when the playoffs started, the Nuggets fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round.

This unexpected series loss took the team back and allowed them to examine the state of their roster moving forward.

They have already made a few surprising roster moves in the offseason, which Justin Termine questioned in a recent segment of SiriusXM NBA Radio.

“Now it seems like they’re tearing the roster apart,” Termine said, adding, “But here, with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, it was basically about not offering him a contract, they could have if they wanted to.”

Termine is worried that the Nuggets are blowing up the team too quickly, as they are just a year removed from winning the Finals.

Letting Bruce Brown walk after their Finals win seemed to be a mistake, and he is worried that the same thing is happening with Caldwell-Pope’s recent departure.

Sure, the Nuggets have a strong core of Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Michael Porter Jr., but as Termine points out, those star athletes also need role-players to do their part on the court.

Caldwell-Pope might seem like a salary cap causality to the front office at the moment, but if they aren’t careful, the Nuggets could be headed down a dangerous path in the years to follow.
