Michigan star J.J. McCarthy is rising fast in most NFL mock drafts.

He went from people questioning whether he should be a first-round pick to climbing to the top ten.

Now, some think he might even go as high as No. 2.

That’s why former NBA star Tim Hardaway believes whoever picks him could be in some trouble.

Talking on The Carton Show, the former NBA guard claimed that he’s been unimpressed after watching McCarthy for two seasons.

“Nothing has jumped off the screen for me. He’s always been suspect,” Hardaway said.

He stated that he has never seen something that pops out, adding that he has small hands and doesn’t fare well in the cold.

He also pointed out the fact that the Wolverines didn’t allow him to throw a single pass in the second half of their game vs. Maryland, which shows they don’t have much trust in him.

Notably, that’s not what his former HC, Jim Harbaugh, had to say.

Recently, the new Los Angeles Chargers coach made the rounds for stating that McCarthy is the absolute best quarterback in the draft, praising the ‘killer instinct’ he develops when things get tough.

Scouts seem to like him more and more as they continue to watch his tape.

Then again, he might not be ready to perform right away, and it’s not like the teams picking No. 2 or No. 3 have a lot of weapons to help him thrive out of the gate, either.
