The Los Angeles Lakers’ season is about to come to an end.

Even if they manage to live for another day and extend their first-round series vs. the Denver Nuggets, no one has ever come back from an 0-3 deficit.

The reigning NBA champions clearly have their number.

Some fear another playoff humiliation might lead to LeBron James’ departure from Southern California.

Nonetheless, Lakers insider Jovan Buha doesn’t think that’s the case.

Talking to Jason Timpf, he stated that all indications point to both the Lakers wanting James back, and him wanting to run it back (via The Volume).

“Everything I’ve heard has been that LeBron wants to remain a Laker and that the Lakers want him to remain a Laker”

Buha acknowledged that there was a chance that James would use some of his leverage to get the team to pursue a new coach and a third star.

He could opt out of his player option to push for an extension, and the front office would also be hard-pressed to find him another star player.

Buha revealed that he pushed to get Kyrie Irving, Zach LaVine, or Dejounte Murray, adding that he could now be in a position to make that kind of push again in the offseason.

Whether the Lakers will be able to get a deal done for any star remains to be seen, as they don’t have a lot of valuable players to deal, and it’s not like the rest of the league has much of an incentive to help them get back to championship contention.
