The Dallas Cowboys might be considered one of the losers of the offseason after failing to add an impact player on either side of the field.
Making matters worse for Dallas is that they’ve yet to sign Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to extensions, likely driving up their price tags.
Lamb is in line for a massive payday after having a career year with the Cowboys in 2023, while Prescott should also get paid based on his production.
Prescott had the best stretch of his career during the second half of the regular season in 2023, but didn’t look like himself in the playoffs as Dallas found a way to lose to the Green Bay Packers.
With another poor postseason under his belt, perhaps there is some hesitation from the Cowboys’ side about handing out a lucrative deal to someone like Prescott.
However, John Middlekauff of The Volume believes that the team would still be better off committing to Prescott and paying him.
“He’s got flaws, clearly in January, but he’s still better than most,” Middlekauff said.

As Middlekauff notes, Prescott’s got his flaws on the field but he’s still an above-average quarterback in the league.
A good quarterback can paper over the deficiencies in a roster and carry a team when needed, and Prescott’s shown he can do that though maybe not as consistently as some other players.
Still, Dallas doesn’t have good alternatives and would be best served signing him to a rich deal to preserve their continuity at the position.
