NBA free agency is one of the most exciting times of the year in the sports calendar as numerous players are expected to move to new teams ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season.
Although there is a new CBA that’s quite prohibitive in terms of making moves, that hasn’t stopped teams from coming to agreements with their own free agents and executing trades.
This summer will be no different in terms of player movement as there are several teams that can talk themselves into contending for a title given the perceived parity around the league.
Although the Boston Celtics are favored to win the 2025 NBA championship, teams like the Denver Nuggets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas Mavericks, Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks will be right behind them in the standings.
Every year there are a few players who are either traded or surprisingly sign with a new team in free agency, but this year figures to induce more fireworks given the sheer volume of players who are available via Keith Smith of Spotrac.
“Including two-way players, by my count there will be: -195 free agents this offseason -168 unrestricted free agents -27 restricted free agents That is 36.1% of the NBA hitting free agency this offseason. (Note: Some free agents have already agreed to new contracts!)” Smith reported.

That is a staggering amount of players that are available which means the league will have its hands full in transactions over the next few weeks.
It’s an exciting time to be a basketball fan and it’ll be fun to see where all the free agents end up going.
