The Denver Broncos added more depth to their quarterback room.
They traded a sixth-round pick to get Zach Wilson, who’ll look to salvage his career in Mile High.
Wilson is familiar with playing in thin air and the rocky mountains, and he clearly needed a change of scenery after three seasons of struggles with the New York Jets.
However, Broncos fans shouldn’t get their hopes up, at least not according to Rich Cimini.
The ESPN insider revealed that Wilson has the absolute worst QBR through three seasons since they first started tracking that stat (minimum 30 starts).
From @ESPNStatsInfo:
Since Total QBR was first introduced in 2006, there have been 38 QBs who started at least 30 games in their first three seasons. The lowest QBRs in that span. #Jets pic.twitter.com/HLtV8soQ1g

Wilson’s 33.6 QBR ranks dead last in the league, followed by Trent Edwards (37.5), Blake Bortles (41.4), Sam Darnold (42.4), and Mark Sanchez (42.7).
If you think there’s a common trend here, you’re absolutely right.
Three out of the five players listed were drafted by the New York Jets, and it’s not much of a coincidence to see that this franchise has struggled so mightily to find success for decades now.
The Broncos’ QB room is far from impressive at this moment, featuring Wilson, Jarrett Stidham, and Ben DiNucci.
They’ll likely add another quarterback in the first round of the NFL Draft, with Bo Nix as the likeliest candidate.
Whether whoever they get will be the starter by the start of the season remains to be seen.
But Wilson is still young, and the arm talent was there in college, so there’s still a slim chance that he gets another opportunity to prove that he belongs in the league.
