Analyst Rips JJ Redick For Cursing On Live TV

JJ Redick hasn’t hosted one single practice with the Los Angeles Lakers, and he’s already being criticized by the media.

The former sharpshooter drew plenty of criticism for dropping a couple of F-bombs during his introductory press conference.

While some believe he was trying to set the tone and prove that he wasn’t going to be pushed around, others didn’t care for his actions.

Notably, that includes analyst Michael Kay, who ripped him for being a person of authority and an intelligent, well-educated, and well-spoken man doing that on live television (via Awful Announcing).

“What exactly has happened to the coarsening of our society where a guy who went to Duke, a bright guy, just drops an f-bomb on live TV?” Michael Kay on JJ Redick pic.twitter.com/kcfP7LosE6

Kay wondered when that became acceptable and talked about the current state of society.

Truth be told, Redick should’ve known better.

It’s not that he said or did anything wrong or that what he did was so terrible or unforgivable; it’s just that you should know that you cannot give the media anything when you’re a part of the Lakers organization.

The media and the fans will scrutinize every single thing he does or doesn’t, and he cannot give them any ammo, especially if he hasn’t even gotten an opportunity to actually coach yet.

Redick was already on thin ice because of his lack of coaching experience and his friendship with LeBron James, and now people will focus on what he said when he could’ve worded his response differently.

Still, at the end of the day, none of this will matter if he gets the job done on the court, which is why they brought him there in the first place.
