The San Francisco 49ers are the team to beat in the league right now, or at least they’re playing like it.

Kyle Shanahan’s team is stacked on both sides of the field, and it would be hard to think of any other team better suited to compete at the highest level.

As a matter of fact, the Niners currently have the top-five players this season in terms of PFF grade.

Christian McCaffrey (1st), Brandon Aiyuk (2nd), George Kittle (1st), Trent Williams (5), Nick Bosa (1), and Fred Warner (1) are among the creme of the crop in their respective positions.

With that in mind, sports analyst Kevin Wildes credited Brock Purdy for elevating the team and making everybody around him better.

Notably, McCaffrey has been one of the best – if not the best – player in the league this season, but Purdy’s presence has also helped him have plenty of lanes.

It’s hard to state that Purdy has made any of his players better, and perhaps it could be the other way around.

Nonetheless, Purdy has been much better than Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance, and the Niners’ offense has looked much more dangerous and efficient since he took the reins of the team last season.

There’s an ongoing debate about whether Purdy should be the leading MVP candidate or not.

But he’s the leader of the best team in the NFL, and that has to count for something, especially with a QB-centered award like the MVP.
