The Boston Celtics won Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night, beating the Dallas Mavericks, 107-89.
That is clearly a big win for the team and brings them one step closer to winning this year’s championship but some people saw troubling signs in their performance.
Speaking on “The Carton Show,” Plaxico Burress said that he wants to see a lot more from Jayson Tatum.
“If Jaylen Brown is going to be your leading scorer every single night, I don’t think the Boston Celtics can win this series,” Burress said.

Brown led the Celtics in Game 1, scoring a commanding 22 points and 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Tatum had 16 points, shooting 6-of-16 from the field and giving up 6 turnovers as well.
Throughout his career, people have called on Tatum to step up and deliver more for his team.
Now that they have reached the Finals again, it’s never been so important that Tatum perform to the best of his abilities.
The turnovers are the most concerning part of his showing in Game 1 because they were sloppy and avoidable.
Thankfully for the Celtics, they held a comfortable lead for much of the game but if things were tighter, the Mavericks could have caught up because of Tatum’s mistakes.
Tatum is repeatedly hailed as the team leader for Boston but there have been many times when Brown has performed better and led them to victory.
That’s why he was recently named Eastern Conference Finals MVP.
A win is a win and the Celtics are definitely happy with their success in Game 1 but fans want to see Tatum play much better in the days ahead.
