The New York Knicks have been starved for a championship for decades now, but they got their first taste of hope this past 2022-23 season after they made it to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Knicks fell to the Miami Heat in six games, though it was close series as the team did well to fight and claw for their lives in the deciding Game 6.

Now, heading into the 2023-24 campaign New York should be feeling good about their chances considering the bulk of their core remains on the roster.

The Eastern Conference has multiple contenders at the top, but there are people like Bobby Marks of ESPN who believe they should be in the conversation.

“I think we should be talking about [the Knicks] like we talk about Milwaukee, Boston, and Miami.”

The Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, and Miami Heat are definitely the cream of the crop in the Eastern Conference, but the Knicks showed they’re able to compete with the best when they’re firing on all cylinders.

Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle are a solid tandem that can create and score with the basketball in their hands, while they’ve got a great supporting cast featuring players like Josh Hart, Immanuel Quickley, and RJ Barrett.

Under head coach Tom Thibodeau, the Knicks are a physical and defensive-minded team that’s built for postseason basketball and their recent run showed they should be considered more of a threat in the Eastern Conference.

Of course, progress isn’t always linear and the Knicks could very well fall short of expectations.

However, Knicks fans are going to remain confident in their team as long as they continue to play their brand of basketball.
