The Los Angeles Lakers have done it again.

Instead of being patient with the one they had, they’ve fired Darvin Ham.

Granted, despite last year’s trip to the Western Conference Finals, this may have made some sense, as Ham clearly didn’t have a grasp of the team, and was exposed over and over by savvier coaches.

Still, Ham was hardly the only one to blame for this team’s shortcomings.

According to sports analyst Rick Kamla, he was a victim of expectations, not to mention a casualty by Rob Pelinka to prevent himself from losing his job (via Mad Dog Sports Radio).

Truth be told, Pelinka has done a solid job of putting together a contending roster, but he’s also allowed LeBron James and Klutch Sports to have too much of a say on everything that goes down.

Also, only Tyronn Lue and Erik Spoelstra have managed to outstay LeBron on their respective teams.

Ham now joins a list of Paul Silas, Mike Brown, David Blatt, Luke Walton, and Frank Vogel as guys who unsuccessfully tried to coach one of the greatest players of all time, and that should also be a factor to consider when going after a new coach in the offseason.

Pelinka deserves plenty of the blame for the current state of the Lakers, but it’s about time people hold James accountable as well.
