The Boston Celtics expect to have their starting big man back on the floor for Game 1 of the NBA Finals, or at least at some point in the series.
Kristaps Porzingis has been out since Game 4 of the first round vs. the Miami Heat with a non-contact calf injury, and it seems like he’s inching closer to a return.
Nonetheless, in the meantime, a perennial unsung hero has done an outstanding job of holding down the fort.
Al Horford continues to beat Father Time, rising to the occasion and playing his best ball of the season when it matters the most.
That’s why former NBA star Tim Hardaway wanted to give him his flowers, stating that he’s defying all the odds and praising him for giving the Celtics everything they need and then some more on both ends of the floor (Via The Carton Show).

Horford is knocking down shots from beyond the arc, changing shots and getting deflections, rebounding, and playing elite defense, both on the perimeter and in the restricted area.
Despite being an All-Star and a former lottery pick, it seems like Horford has always been quite an underrated player.
He can make an impact on both ends of the floor, and while he’s not exactly a volume scorer, he’s proven that he can put up big points when needed.
Also, his leadership and basketball IQ have been instrumental for this team for years now, and even if he goes to the bench with a healthy Porzingis, he could still be a major factor in this series.
