The Golden State Warriors’ dynasty appears to finally be over after they lost in the play-in tournament by a wide margin to the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday.

It was a painful loss for Stephen Curry, who may have been the only Warriors player to put forth a passable effort.

They have now missed the playoffs three times in the last five years, which may look bad for Curry’s resume, but Ric Bucher said on FS1’s “Speak” that context matters and that Curry doesn’t get credit for the team adversity he has had to overcome.

Golden State won three NBA championships in four years starting in the 2014-15 season, but in 2019, they lost the title to the Toronto Raptors, and that’s where their dynasty started to dissolve.

Kevin Durant tore his Achilles and left to join the Brooklyn Nets, and since then, he has won only two playoff series.

Klay Thompson, Curry’s “Splash Brothers” mate, tore his ACL during that championship series and missed all of the next season, then he missed all of the 2020-21 campaign with a torn Achilles.

The Warriors regained the world championship in 2022 thanks to some young players who emerged for them, but one of their young players, big man James Wiseman, turned out to be a bust, and he was traded last season.

Curry has also had to endure Draymond Green getting involved in several altercations during games and one during a practice with then-teammate Jordan Poole.

Thompson will be a free agent this summer, and he simply isn’t the player he used to be.

The Warriors will have to perform some sleight of hand this summer if they are to wring one more title run out of the 35-year-old Curry.
