After the 2023-24 NBA regular season came to an end over the weekend, the playoff matchups in both conferences were set in stone outside of the scenarios that involve the top seeds and the Play-In Tournament.
As the result of the New York Knicks getting their fifth straight win and 50th victory on the season, Jalen Brunson and company were able to secure the second seed in the Eastern Conference and will have to await their first-round opponent, which will either be the Philadelphia 76ers or Miami Heat.
Obviously, both the Heat and the 76ers pose significant threats as both teams have been successful in the playoffs when they are healthy and playing up to their potential, which could have some Knicks fans worried about a first-round upset brewing.
However, Freddie Coleman of ESPN Radio claims the Knicks aren’t going to be afraid of who they face in the first round, via “Freddie and Harry” on Twitter.
“The Knicks ain’t afraid of anybody,” Coleman said.

Although Coleman has a point that professional athletes and teams don’t get afraid of opponents, New York will have their hands full with whomever they face in the first round, as they’ll be put to the test from start to finish in the first round against experienced veteran teams led by superstars.
It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out in the East, as it could be argued that whoever comes out of this first-round matchup will be the toughest opponent for the Boston Celtics during the NBA playoffs, as Jayson Tatum and company try to pave their way back to the NBA Finals.
