The Golden State Warriors beat the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night, giving them a much-needed victory just days before the start of the Play-In Tournament.
Despite that, Craig Carton believes they don’t have a shot at winning a championship this year.
Speaking on “The Carton Show,” he said that the absence of Klay Thompson and Draymond Green during Thursday’s game is a big sign of the team’s problems.
He claims that head coach Steve Kerr should have forced both players to suit up because the game was so vitally important.
He just doesn’t see a path for the Warriors to claim a title, especially if they only reach the eighth seed in the postseason.

Carton and his co-hosts agreed that the eighth seed in the Western Conference is facing a “death sentence” because, as of now, they are set to battle against the reigning champion Denver Nuggets.
It doesn’t matter if it’s De’Aaron Fox, LeBron James, or Steph Curry leading the team, no one will have what it takes to stop Nikola Jokic and his team, according to Carton.
The Warriors have had a very troubled season since the very beginning and some people consider them lucky to even have gotten to this point.
They have just two games left in the regular season, against the New Orleans Pelicans and Utah Jazz.
If they can pull to the eighth seed before the Play-In, they have a chance of winning the seventh seed, meaning they might be able to bypass the Nuggets in the opening round.
No matter what happens, Carton thinks their chance of winning a title, at least this year, has completely passed.
